RESIDENTIAL BED BUG PREPARATIONS
Merlinspestcontrol.net@gmail.com
MERLIN’S PEST CONTROL WILL BE ENTERING YOUR HOME FOR AN EXTENSIVE TREATMENT. SINCE THIS IS AN EXTENSIVE TREATMENT, SHEETS/LINENS SHOULD BE ON ALL MATTRESSES FOR AT LEAST 90 DAYS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE AS SOME PEOPLE DO NOT USE SHEETS AT ALL. PLEASE MAKE ALL THESE PREPARATIONS TO MAXIMIZE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND TREATMENT EFFICIENCY.
The following steps must be taken BEFORE treatment begins. This is not an option. If these preparations are not completed, our crew will have to reschedule the treatment and you may be subject to a reschedule fee!
If you have air conditioning or fans, we recommend turning them on. This will help keep the house cool and keep the air moving. If steamers are used, the house will easily rise to around 110 degrees. During the Winter, it is advised to turn on central heat or slightly open windows for ventilation.
ALL ROOMS- GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
No one may be home or on site during the treatment and at least four hours after the treatment.
Do not pile belongings in the middle of rooms. Please allow for easy access throughout all rooms.
After treatment, wash off or discard items that were left out such as clothes, shoes, toys, etc.
All pictures/wall ornaments are to be taken off of walls and lying face down against the wall for ease of treatment.
No dogs, cats, birds, or animals of any kind may remain during the treatment. Fish pumps must be turned off during treatment.
All furniture must be moved away from the walls. All electrical outlets, switches, and baseboards must be accessible.
DO NOT use over the counter bedbug material. It is a violation of our contract and will immunize the bedbugs, making them much harder to exterminate. Use only Merlin’s approved materials.
DO NOT cover bed in plastic/vinyl sheets. Please remove plastic cover from the factory.
Merlin’s Pest Control carries Steri-Fab and No-Pest Strips, as well as approved bed bug materials.
ROOM SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
Bedrooms
Make sure to leave plenty of room to move around. Do not pile bags and totes in this room.
Remove all drawers from chests-of-drawers. Put them on top of the chests-of-drawers or beside them. Do not pile them into the middle of the room.
Strip all linens from mattresses. Run them in the washer/dryer.
Lift mattresses and box springs and then stand straight up against the wall. We will steam/treat them and set them back down.
Move all furniture 3 inches away from the walls so the baseboards and outlet/switch covers are accessible.
Baby Rooms
Allow easy access to cribs, rocking chairs, changing tables, and playpens.
Kitchens
Cover all food, such as exposed fruit, cereal, onions, potatoes, crackers, cookies, etc. All food left out must be discarded for safety reasons.
Make sure that no appliances are running, such as the oven, microwaves, and toasters.
When treatment is finished, wipe down counters.
Bathrooms
Place toothbrushes, soap bars, brushes, curling irons, etc. in the sink and cover them with a towel.
Hang bathroom rugs on bathtub or bathroom door, or remove them from the room (Wash/Dry them.)
Living Rooms/Den
Remove cushions from couch, recliners, and loveseats. Make enough room around them to be flipped over and treated.
Pull furniture six inches away from the walls. This includes, if able, entertainment stand, sitting furniture, coffee tables, and stands.
Offices
Allow easy access to office chairs and baseboards.
All Prep Work can be done by Merlin’s at a price of $100/hr. plus materials.
We cannot stress enough that this is not an option and must be done by all recipients scheduled for service.
